Local Elections On 4th May 2023

From 4 May 2023, voters in England will need to show photo ID to vote at polling stations in some elections.
This will apply to:
- Local elections

- UK parliamentary by-elections;
and, with effect from October 2023, to UK General elections.

- If your name is not the same on your photo ID as it appears on the electoral register you either need to re-register or take along documentary proof of your change of name.
- If you are voting as someone’s proxy you will need to take your photo ID.
